As a unique resort town, there are no chain restaurants, drive-thrus or even streetlights in Telluride's exclusive hamlet. A year-round playground awaits residents of Telluride, with fresh powder bowls for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and a bevy of summertime music events and festivals. Winter welcomes snow play at the Telluride Ski Resort. As one of America's top ten ski areas, the resort receives over 300 inches of snow annually and features more than 2,000 acres of scenic terrain. The summer festival calendar includes the Mountainfilm in Telluride, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Telluride Jazz Celebration, and Telluride Film Festival.

EDUCATION

The Telluride School District was recently awarded the 2010 John Irwin School of Excellence Award for Outstanding Academic Performance. Five schools are a part of Telluride's school district, including the town's namesake Early Childhood Center, Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High School. Additionally, Telluride Mountain School is a non-profit independent school offering a preschool through high school education, serving approximately 100 students from throughout the region. Higher education is provided by Fort Lewis College, a public 4-year institution, Western State College of Colorado in nearby Gunnison, CO, and San Juan College in nearby Farmington, NM.

ECONOMY
